THE UNIVERSE (2009)
Choreographer Melissa Bartz
Dancers swing, spin, slide, orbit, travel, and react to the forces that pull us everywhere, everyday.
SAMSARA (1999)
Choreographer Chloe Jensen
Inspired by visions of those that have already departed this life, this acrobatic dance solo investigates themes of reincarnation.
CHIMAERA (2007)
Choreographer Tracy Von Kaenel
Ground and air-based movement on suspended fabric expresses the essence of fire: dancing, scattering, exhilarating and frightening ... leaving behind the slightest hint of what's still smoldering.
ON THE RISE (2005)
Choreographer Chloe Jensen
Shape-shifting partnering in the air and on the ground portrays a dynamic, sisterly relationship of support and pride. Utilizing a trapeze, this piece straddles the continuum connecting the horizontal and vertical dance floor.
SECOND SKIN (2008)
Choreographer Carolyn Gaffke
This aerial duet using fabric sling explores multiple personalities of one individual.
MOTION QUEST (2003)
Choreographer Chloe Jensen
Fast paced acrobatics and playful partnering demonstrate the amazing potential of the human body in motion and inspires a reconnection with the physical sense.
INVISIBLE WEB (2009)
Choreographer Karen Fisher-Doyle
As in Chinese philosophies about chi, the lyra (aerial hoop) in this piece acts as an energy source, a guide toward balance and peace of mind, body and spirit.
ON LEASH (2006)
Choreographer Nadia Oussenko
This piece is a lighthearted look at frustration and desire as two women try to run and jump forward only to be pulled back by the strings they are attached to. Set to energetic bluegrass music, the dancers swing, fall, and spin, as they yearn for something beyond their reach.
SYMBIOTIC (2009)
Choreographers Chloe Jensen, Christina Chen, Danielle Garrison and Melissa Bartz
This dance duet on trapeze illustrates the value of cooperation and the elegance of a mutually beneficial relationship. Matinee performances by AMEBA 2.
THERE (2009)
Choreographer Danielle Garrison
This piece integrates bungee and fabric apparatus to convey the quality of being fully present in the moment and aware of the connection between ourselves and all that surrounds us. Matinee performances by AMEBA 2.
REVEALING STRENGTH (2002)
Choreographer Chloe Jensen
This acrobatic modern dance trio explores the peaceful side of strength, and reveals the power of serenity and solidarity.
PROTEUS BURP (2006)
Choreographer Tracy Von Kaenel
Being able to take any shape like the mythological sea-god Proteus, this fast paced, energetic piece takes many forms. At times it is moody and cajoling and at times forceful and dynamic. And at times, like all creatures, it burps.
ETHER & TERRA (2008)
Choreographer Chloe Jensen
Literally translated as air & earth, this lyrical and romantic bungee duet takes a traditional pas-de-deux and stretches it (literally) in all directions. The elastic and vertical dance floor enables the dancers to inhabit and explore where two different worlds overlap in this delicate, melancholy love story.
Plus these special weekly features by Guest Choreographers:
THINKING OF LINCOLN (2010)
Choreographer Ronn Stewart
Week 1 only: July 8, 9 & 10
Bold staging using a fabric sling combined with thought provoking movement conversations and intense music drive this intriguing group dance.
FEAR OF FLYING (2007)
Choreographer Aaron McGloin
Week 2 only: July 15, 16 & 17
This acrobatic dance solo explores the fear associated with leaving ones comfort zone and finding a new place to call "home".
A VIEW FROM ABOVE (2007)
Choreographer Aaron McGloin
Week 3 only: July 22, 23 & 24
This curiously romantic, roped duet considers the challenges of young love and the ways in which it is dealt with in the context of today's society.
