Julie is a multi-Emmy nominated Director/Choreographer, currently resides
in Chicago, and is a native of the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She is
the recipient of multiple grant awards, was a semi-finalist for NY's
DanceBreak in 2003 & 2004 -- an SDCF showcase for professional choreographers
and directors, and was previously selected for "Best of New Dances" by the
curator of Dance Chicago. Ms. Petry currently resides as the Choreographer
in Residence for Dominican University's Performing Arts Theatre Series,
and serves the University as an adjunct faculty teaching both dance and
theatre courses. Additionally, she is currently a performing member of
the Lira Dance Ensemble -- a nationally touring Polish Dance and Music Company.
Her Directing/Choreographic credits include: PBS; The King Center, FL w/
Heartsong Communications; Dance Chicago; Duets for My Valentine; Around the
Coyote Festival; SoulStance Festival; Summer Palace Theatre, WA; Dominican
University; Centerlight Theatre; & Metropolis Performing Arts Center, among
others. Performing includes: Tom & Susana Evert Dance Theatre, OH; Ensemble
Espanol Spanish Dance Theatre, IL; Kenny Rogers/ The Toy Shoppe National Tour;
Melissa Thodos and Dancers/New Dances, IL; Ballet Entre Nous, IL; Light Opera
Works, IL; The Southern Arizona Light Opera Company, AZ; & a benefit performance
of Miracle Interupted directed by Paul Christiano, creator of this signature work
previously commissioned by the Joffrey Ballet Chicago. She is delighted to be
working with Ameba, and will graduate with her MFA from the U. of WI Milwaukee
this year.
